In 2023, several European lotteries reported significant growth in their e-instant game segments, not only in terms of revenue, but also in player engagement and acquisition.

The e-instant games product vertical has emerged as a standout performer in European markets throughout 2023 and the first half of 2024. This innovative approach to lottery gaming, which combines the immediacy of scratch cards with the accessibility of digital platforms, is reshaping the industry. As European lottery operators adapt to changing consumer behaviors and technological advancements, e-instant games are becoming a cornerstone of their digital strategies, capturing the interest of a diverse and growing player base.

The appeal of e-instant games lies in their simplicity and immediate gratification. Unlike traditional draw-based lotteries, where players must wait for scheduled drawings, e-instant games offer instant results, creating a fast-paced and engaging experience. This immediacy aligns well with the expectations of modern consumers, who are accustomed to on-demand entertainment through streaming services, mobile gaming, and social media platforms. SUCCESSFUL CASES OF EUROPEAN LOTTERIES

For instance, the UK National Lottery’s digital sales saw a notable uptick, with e-instant games being a major contributor. INTERNATIONAL LOTTERY OPERATORS WILL FOLLOW THE TREND

Governments and regulatory bodies have recognized the potential of e-instant games to generate additional revenue while maintaining responsible gaming standards. Consequently, many jurisdictions have introduced or updated regulations to ensure a safe and fair gaming environment. For example, the North Carolina Education Lottery in the United States reported that e-instant games are the dominant product category in the state. The institution explained that by optimizing the instant games product portfolio in every detail, they have managed to become one of the fastest growing lotteries in the country.

Everything is then prepared for this vertical to continue progressing, conquering new markets and audiences in an increasingly technological future.
