Celebrating women and their essential contributions and leadership, the Women in Tribal Gaming Symposium was an incredible event, with over 300 professionals representing various tribes, businesses, and gaming operations.

The National Indian Gaming Commission (NIGC) proudly communicated that its Vice Chair Jeannie Hovland obtained the Woman Warrior Award, presented by the Tribal Gaming Protection Network’s Women in Tribal Gaming Symposium. This distinguished honor praises a leader in tribal gaming who has demonstrated exceptional professionalism, resilience, and dedication to advancing the industry and uplifting Native communities.

Hovland accepted the award during a special presentation at the Women in Tribal Gaming Luncheon in Oklahoma City. “I am deeply honored to receive the Woman Warrior Award and to be amongst so many visionary women who are making lasting impacts across their communities and in the tribal gaming industry. This is a powerful reminder of the strength of so many women who lead, advocate and inspire every day,” she expressed.

On its 8th edition, the Women in Tribal Gaming Symposium consisted of informative panel discussions, interactive breakout sessions, and stimulating networking events, delivered on the TGPN’s commitment to support and encourage professional development of people working in tribal gaming. Highlights of this year’s Symposium included the Keynote Address and presentation of the Woman Warrior Award.

Through the event, the idea was to encourage all women involved in tribal gaming to share the goal of promoting diversity within the sector.
