Players in London usually visit famous Hippodrome Casino, located in Leicester Square, which is filled with entertainment for everyone and receives an estimated 9,200 monthly searches worldwide.

When you think of casinos and gambling, Las Vegas (United States) may immediately come to mind, with its iconic Strip and over 200 casinos filled with every game imaginable. However, being one of the most famous casino destinations, Vegas can also be pricey and overwhelming for some travellers.

If you’re a gambling enthusiast looking for a more affordable and relaxed alternative, the experts at CasiMonka have compiled the latest casino statistics for 2025. These insights highlight some of the world’s best underrated casino cities, ideal for those planning to enjoy a game of poker in a more relaxed environment.

Highlights from the research: Leading casino hotspots outside of Vegas

London (UK) has the highest number of casinos outside of Las Vegas (47). Also, in Nevada (United States), Reno ranks third place, with 28. Oranjestad (Aruba) and Tokyo (Japan) tie for sixth place with 16 casinos. Lima (Peru) and Glasgow (Scotland) tie for eighth place with 15 casinos.

You can find CasiMonka’s complete research in this blog post here.

London is the city with the most casinos outside of Las Vegas

For those wanting to take a gambling holiday, consider heading to the UK capital, London, with its 47 casinos, the highest number of casinos for any city outside of Las Vegas. Londoners are spoilt for choice, with many renowned casinos, including arguably the most famous Hippodrome Casino, located in Leicester Square, which is filled with entertainment for everyone and receives an estimated 9,200 monthly searches worldwide. Other casinos include The Grosvenor Victoria Casino in Marylebone, offering many gaming and dining options to suit all.

Zagreb (Croatia) takes second place with 35 casinos. While it may not be the first city that comes to mind for gambling, the Croatian capital is home to several incredible venues like the Diamond Palace Casino. Despite only opening in 2016, it has gained recognition across Croatia and the rest of Europe for its stunning interior and elegant design, elements of which were custom-built. Other popular casinos in Zagreb include Luckia Casino and the Admiral Autokat Club, all of which are helping to put Zagreb on the map as an emerging casino destination.

Reno, Nevada, takes the third spot, with 28 casinos. Those outside of the U.S. may not be familiar with Reno, but it has earned the title of ‘The Biggest Little City In The World’ and is the third-largest city in Nevada outside of Las Vegas. While it may lie in the shadow of Las Vegas, Reno is also a tourist destination known for gambling, with casinos in historical resort hotels, including Grand Sierra Resort (with over 30,000 monthly searches globally), Silver Legacy Resort, and Atlantis Casino Resort. These include something for everyone, from slot machines, poker tables, restaurants, and spas.

In fourth place is Madrid (Spain), with 19 casinos. It is home to casinos such as Casino Gran Via, located in Madrid’s Gran Via street, popular among locals and visitors (also online, with an estimated 2,800 monthly global searches) due to its stunning interiors, and offers a wide variety of games. Other casinos include the historical Casino de Madrid, with its extravagant, classical decor, which was first opened in 1836, offering many games, including poker, roulette and blackjack. It receives an estimated 3,000 monthly global searches.

In fifth place is Prague, with 17 casinos. Located in Czechia, Prague isn’t only a widely popular tourist destination famed for its beautiful Gothic Cathedrals and Gardens but is also attractive for gambling fans. Popular casinos include the Casino Rebuy Stars, set inside the beautiful Baroque Savarin Palace. It is known as one of Prague’s original casinos, opening back in 1905. Other casinos include Casino Banco, also one of Prague’s oldest casinos, and the more modern Casino Ambassador.
