MELBET presents the NECTAR project in Abidjan: beekeeping, biodiversity, and a new model for community support

The iGaming brand states that the initiative goes beyond one-time support, offering education, infrastructure, and a stable income source for local communities.

It is no secret that the iGaming brand Melbet is steadily strengthening its presence across African markets. This goes beyond its products and the MelBet Partners & Affiliates program and also includes social initiatives. In 2026, Melbet is helping protect bees. Yes, that is exactly what this project is about.

Melbet has launched the NECTAR project in Côte d’Ivoire. This corporate social responsibility initiative is aimed at developing sustainable beekeeping, supporting rural communities, and preserving biodiversity in the region.

Sometimes the strongest ideas are built on simple logic, and this project is a clear example of that. Rather than offering one-time support, the company developed a system in which people receive more than financial assistance. The project is designed as a contribution to the region’s economic and social development. The MELBET NECTAR program combines education, infrastructure, technical support, and the creation of a stable source of income.

Côte d’Ivoire and the beekeeping sector were chosen as the foundation for NECTAR for a reason. This is a country where environmental and social challenges are closely tied to agriculture and the well-being of local communities. In these conditions, beekeeping is not just a separate agricultural activity. It is also an important tool for supporting the local economy. Bees play a key role in pollination, which directly affects crop yields, farmers’ income, and the long-term resilience of entire regions.

The NECTAR project is built around several core directions, each addressing a specific need:

  • Training in beekeeping and basic business management.
  • Installation of 50 modern hives.
  • Provision of 10 sets of professional protective equipment for the apiary.
  • Ongoing technical support and mentorship.
  • Development of the apiary as an efficient and sustainable source of income.

“We have spoken many times about the value of our partners, the importance of live communication, and meaningful interaction with people. This initiative is a natural continuation of that strategy. With the launch of this project, we have not only become closer to the local audience but are also making a meaningful contribution that will remain visible for years to come,” a representative of the iGaming brand commented.

Particular attention within the project is being given to the involvement of women. This is not only a matter of employment. It is also about long-term impact and the development of local communities. In Côte d’Ivoire, women are more likely to reinvest their income into family needs, education, and healthcare, while the format of beekeeping makes it possible to combine this activity with everyday responsibilities. This gives the project additional social depth and makes it part of a broader model of sustainable development.

Planned indicators for the NECTAR initiative include:

  • 50 modern hives.
  • 500 sq. m of greened area to support pollination.
  • Up to 2,000 kg of premium honey per year.
  • A 125% increase in apiary production capacity.
  • Expected annual farm revenue of 3,125,000 FCFA.

The official presentation of the project took place on February 26 in Abidjan. The event was held at a themed venue designed in the company’s signature colors. The presentation brought together representatives of local authorities, entrepreneurs, members of the agricultural sector, public initiatives, influencers, and media. The launch of MELBET NECTAR received a strong response and quickly moved beyond a local event, becoming a notable topic in both the public and media space.

The project was featured by five of Côte d’Ivoire’s largest media outlets, including Abidjan.net. Total audience reach exceeded 500,000 web users and more than 5,800,000 users across social media, further highlighting the significance of MELBET NECTAR for communities across the continent.

The NECTAR project has become an important step in the development of social initiatives in Africa. It is a strong example of how support for local communities can be built not on declarations, but on simple, practical, and genuinely meaningful actions for the region.
