That’s why, during 2025 (and even before), our publication decided to interview true experts who have researched various aspects of gaming. We offer, therefore, ten interviews with content to help you learn more and better about the sector.
1) Michael Soll (ICRG). Continuing to fund high-quality, rigorous, independent research
In this exclusive interview, the President of the International Center for Responsible Gaming discussed the role of research, innovation, and industry collaboration in advancing responsible gambling practices and reducing gambling-related harm at scale. He stated that evidence-based programs only become meaningful when they are consistently available, adaptable, and embedded into the player experience. The organization is also investing in improving how research insights reach the people who need them most so that evidence translates into action more quickly and effectively.
2) Cynthia Gonzales (GGW). Building more opportunities for learning, growth, and connection across the industry
We spoke with the Education and Programs Manager at Global Gaming Women, the most relevant entity in the world for empowering and advancing the development of women in the sector. Gonzales shared her ideas about diversity and inclusion, explained her vision for designing flexible, community-driven programs that support professionals at every stage, and advised young female executives who want to enter this segment. She also declared that, through leadership programs, mentorship, and safe spaces for honest conversations, the organization is working to make sure everyone has a chance to lead and contribute to the future of gambling.
3) Matthew Azzopardi (Betsson Group Partners). Providing real value to affiliates at a global level
We met the Senior Affiliate Operations Manager of this popular operator. The executive highlighted the value of the iGB event in London, praised the strength of their affiliate program in the Nordics, Greece, and Italy, as well as in Latin America, and stated that the company is aiming for greater growth and visibility. While in Brazil, the company offers an attractive 63% initial revenue share for affiliates, in Argentina, they will continue strengthening their position through new sponsorships and initiatives.
4) Kelly Kehn (Defy the Odds). Giving underrepresented founders the support, knowledge, and connections they need to build sustainable businesses in gaming
The co-founder of Defy the Odds and longtime advocate for inclusion in gaming is on a mission to expand who gets to lead, build, and invest in the industry. She detailed how DTO is helping some leaders overcome structural barriers through strategic backing, community building, and investor engagement. To her, inclusion isn’t just the right thing to do, but a powerful driver of growth. She stated that, when the industry taps into diverse perspectives, it creates space for innovation that benefits the entire ecosystem.
5) Lauren Hillery (LaneTerralever). Why offering social experiences and mobile apps are key for operators to engage new and existing players
In this extensive and very interesting interview, the VP of Strategy at the renowned marketing and customer experience agency analyzed key findings from the 2025 Casino Player Trends Report. 6) Michael Mandel (Progressive Policy Institute). Rethinking the real impact of legal sports betting
To discuss the implications of their latest study “Balancing Innovation and Risk: The Case of Legalized Sports Betting,” we had a conversation with the Vice President and Chief Economist at the Progressive Policy Institute. He offered a distinctive perspective, challenging the myths about gambling-related bankruptcies and highlighting the role of iGaming in reshaping the digital economy. Moreover, he revisited the evidence, considered social effects, and pointed to new ways of understanding the industry’s future.
7) Katie Simmonds (SIGA). Driving cultural change through mentorship
In this interview, the Global Chief Commercial Officer of SIGA and Chair of SIGAWomen detailed how mentorship, collaboration, and global standards are promoting knowledge, integrity, compliance and gender equity from São Paulo to the world. Through initiatives like SIGA LATIN AMERICA and SIGAWomen, the alliance is empowering new generations of female leaders, fostering transparency, and redefining governance standards in sports and betting. Among other initiatives, the organization celebrated the ‘Sport Integrity Action Month’ last November, with several global events in Brazil, United Arab Emirates, and Saudi Arabia.
8) Katherine Spilde (San Diego State University). Tribal government gaming as a unique ownership, regulatory and social model for business development
A Full Professor at San Diego State University, Professor and Chair of the Sycuan Institute of Tribal Gaming, and Gambling Industry Consultant, she reflected on the transformative power of education in tribal communities, the evolving relationship between tribal and commercial gaming sectors, and the importance of aligning business growth with social and cultural responsibility. Her insights illuminated how tribal nations are not only redefining gaming but also influencing the global conversation around sustainability, regulation, and innovation in the gambling industry.
9) Daron Dorsey (AGEM). Guiding the gaming manufacturers toward a more sustainable and collaborative future
For over a year at the helm of the Association of Gaming Equipment Manufacturers, the president and CEO of the organization has been navigating one of the industry’s most transformative periods. Amid evolving trade frameworks, regulatory shifts, and technological disruption, Dorsey’s leadership emphasizes collaboration, integrity, and long-term vision. In this interview with G&M News, he examined how AGEM continues to strengthen ties among global suppliers, advocates for a stable business environment, and fosters innovation across both land-based and digital gaming markets.
10) Brooke Thomas (LGBTQ+ in Gaming). Championing diversity and inclusion in the betting sector
Reinforcing its ongoing commitment to the DEI agenda, G&M News interviewed the leader of the LGBTQ+ in Gaming and VP of People Equity & Inclusion at Seminole Hard Rock Support Services. The executive talked about the origins of the group, how professionals, both from the community and allies, can get involved, and which are the biggest challenges the gaming and hospitality industries face to increase participation and discussion of these important topics in their daily activities. She believes that, when making space for all voices at the table and leverage that collective knowledge to drive inclusion and innovation, organizations and the whole sector flourish.
