According to analysts, locals’ gaming markets and slot machine players drove Nevada to its 13th straight gaming revenue month of more than USD 1 billion.

A few hours ago, the Nevada Gaming Control Board (NGCB), United States, launched its monthly report, and confirmed the great performance of the state’s commercial gaming segment. March 2022 showed a USD 1.355 billion gaming revenue figure, which represented a 26.8% increase over March 2021. It was real close to the top mark of USD 1.359 billion in gaming revenue from July 2021.

On Las Vegas Strip, gaming revenue was of USD 746.2 million (+48.8% v March 2021). For the first three months of 2022, gaming revenues on the Strip are up 63.3% compared to the first three months of 2021. Last year, Nevada casinos collected a record USD 13.4 billion in gaming revenue, including USD 7 billion on the Strip.

Besides, there were other impressive stats shared by the NGCB and The Nevada Independent site. Statewide, slot machines produced an all-time record, with USD 3 million in gaming revenue (+16.8% y-o-y). This slot revenue total included single-month record revenue of USD 751.6 million from all of Clark County, as well as record months at downtown Las Vegas casinos (USD 60.7 million) and casinos in the county’s unincorporated areas (USD 123.5 million). Strip casinos also saw a huge jump in baccarat results in March 2022, with revenue of USD 126.5 million, an 87.3% increase from a year ago, while wagering escalated 89.4% to USD 635 million.

SPORTSBOOKS FAILED TO REACH THE BILLION MARK

Nevada sportsbooks took in USD 863 million in wagers in March 2022 (+34.7% compared to March 2021). For second straight month, sportsbooks couldn’t hit the USD 1 billion mark in wagers that was reached each month between October 2021 and January 2022.

Revenue from sports betting of USD 36.9 million was down 6.2% against March 2021 because the sportsbooks held 4.3% of all wagers, as opposed to 6.2% a year ago. Nevada sportsbooks said 66.8% of all wagers were made through mobile sports betting apps.

LOTS OF VISITORS TO THE STATE

According to the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority, more than 3.3 million visitors came to Las Vegas in March 2022, a 49.5% evolution in relation to March 2021. Convention attendance to tradeshows brought nearly 495,000 visitors. Moreover, Las Vegas airport numbers were the best in 24 months, with 4.3 million passengers coming through the Harry Reid International Airport in March. For the first three months of 2022, Reid Airport has serviced more than 10.7 million passengers, +89% compared to the first three months of 2021.

Hotel occupancy was about 80.6% in Las Vegas during March 2022, and weekend occupancy was slightly above 92%. The average daily room rate on the Strip was USD 163 (63% higher than a year ago), and revenue per available room (RevPAR) was USD 131.49 for the month (+137% v March 2021).
