In ICE 2025, the WGF succeeded in bringing together 1,200 delegates from 79 countries, underlining its reputation for offering the highest-level thought leadership in gaming.

Events’ organizing company Clarion Gaming has communicated some of the key industry topics that will be explored, analyzed, dissected and debated at the ICE World Gaming Forum (WGF).

Situated in the heart of Fira Gran Via Barcelona (Spain) and featuring an exclusive club-style VIP lounge for delegates and speakers, dedicated networking garden, and a range of concierge services, this Forum will run Monday 19th to Wednesday 21st January 2026, alongside the world leading ICE Barcelona and iGB Affiliate Barcelona exhibitions.

Subjects to be included are: Combating the Illegal Market, Land-Based growth in Europe, Collaboration in Sports Betting, iGaming Personalization, Lottery Technology and Innovation, Bonus Abuse and Cyberattacks. The full agenda will be available from October 27th, 2025, and can be viewed at this link.

Confirming the overarching themes, Damien Ashton-Wellman, Conference Manager and Head of Content for ICE Barcelona, expressed: “The ICE World Gaming Forum is the industry’s largest and most influential gathering of leaders drawn from across the global gaming ecosystem. This unique event is attended by CEOs, ministers, regulators, and industry associations, all gathering to share knowledge, stimulate debate, and engage with high-level experts on policy, strategy and new technology.”

Besides, je stated: “The content for the 2026 edition of ICE World Gaming Forum has been curated following close collaboration with the industry to identify the threats, opportunities and hot topics across all verticals and all jurisdictions. In 2025, the WGF succeeded in bringing together 1,200 delegates from 79 countries, underlining its reputation for offering the highest-level thought leadership in gaming and the event where the big issues of the day are debated in the process helping to grow the power of play.”

Here are the details on some of the ICE World Gaming Forum content themes:

1) Combating the Illegal Market… and Protecting Players: As Europe tightens gambling regulations, illegal markets are resurging. Tax changes, AML scrutiny, and ad restrictions pressure licensed operators, while unregulated sites exploit flexibility and crypto options. Regulators must balance consumer protection with innovation to keep legal markets competitive, especially in fast-growing regions like Latin America and Africa.

2) Looking to the Edge on Land-Based Growth in Europe: Land-based casinos in Europe face growing competition from resorts and digital play. Success demands rethinking limited space, integrating food, entertainment, and gaming. Omni-channel expansion, cruise and street gaming diversification, and B2B collaboration drive growth, emphasizing experience, efficiency, and sustained engagement over short-term gaming revenues.

3) Collaboration in Sports Betting, from Marketing to Integrity: Data, AI, and Big Tech partnerships are transforming sports betting, enabling personalized marketing and real-time integrity monitoring. Balancing engagement with data security and compliance is vital. Growth in Esports, MENA, LatAm, and North America hinges on innovation that enhances transparency, trust, and responsible betting practices.

4) iGaming Personalization, Doing More with Less: AI-driven personalization defines modern iGaming. Operators use data for precise segmentation, optimizing engagement and lifetime value. Responsible design is key to maintaining trust and profitability. Drawing from entertainment tech, brands can deliver tailored experiences efficiently, focusing on sustainable personalization that balances excitement with ethical player protection.

5) Lottery Technology and Innovation, Rethinking Regulation: Lotteries are evolving through digitization, gamification, and hybrid formats. New prize models attract younger, experience-driven players but create regulatory challenges. To sustain trust and growth, frameworks must adapt to tech-driven convergence, balancing innovation with integrity in a rapidly changing global market.

6) Evolving Threats, Bonus Abuse and Cyberattacks: Cyberattacks in gambling have surged 70% since 2022, costing nearly €1 billion yearly. Fraud tactics like deepfakes and bonus abuse demand AI-driven defenses and biometric safeguards. Operators now treat cybersecurity as core to trust and competitiveness, prioritizing proactive, integrated risk management across technology, compliance, and operations.
