Little by little, the world seems to be winning the battle against Coronavirus. Different vaccines have proven their effectiveness, and continents such as Asia and Europe are returning to normal life, or, at least, something similar to that normality and freedom that we used to enjoy until the end of 2019. Of course, the gaming sector has not been a secluded oasis in this health tragedy. In addition to the unfortunate and painful loss of lives in all countries, thousands of people in gaming are unemployed, some companies closed their doors permanently and others (the majority) had to reconfigure their structures to be more efficient and profitable. It is clear that, while the face-to-face segment strongly suffered the impact of the pandemic, the online vertical benefited. Millions of people locked in their homes by quarantine enhanced their passion for entertainment by gambling virtually.
Regarding the events of the sector, main organizers juggled to try to offer their respective fairs, changing the dates of their shows to adapt to the situation in the different countries. For a year and a half, there was no choice but to hold online meetings, which have proven to be very interesting and which attracted a massive participation of sector executives. But, of course, the experience of face-to-face meetings is irreplaceable. Now that global vaccination is advancing steadily, and that territories such as Las Vegas are showing very positive recovery indicators, with a 100% capacity reopening of its magnificent brick-and-mortar casinos, it is time for G&M News to review which in-person trade shows have remained firmly on the calendar for this second half of 2021. We are also mentioning some virtual events we consider important to include on this list.
