Esports is entering 2026 with a robust slate of marquee events that reflect both the growth of competitive gaming and its expanding cultural influence worldwide. Building on a record-setting 2025 -when global prize money exceeded hundreds of millions of dollars across top titles and viewership peaked in the millions-, this year’s calendar includes elite tournaments in Mobile Legends, Valorant, Counter-Strike, and more.

MLBB World Championship 2026 – Jakarta, Indonesia

Kicking off the year in early January, the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang World Championship (M7) will be hosted in Jakarta from January 3 to 25, 2026. As one of the most anticipated mobile Esports events, the tournament is expected to feature 22 international teams and a prize pool of USD 1 million, continuing MLBB’s strong regional and global appeal in South and Southeast Asia.

Mobile Esports consistently rank among the most watched genres, with 2025 grand finals drawing more than 4 million peak viewers in Indonesia alone.

Valorant’s Global Season – Santiago Masters and Champions

Valorant enters 2026 with two signature events on its competitive calendar. The VCT Santiago Masters, scheduled in Chile, marks a historic moment as the first major Valorant Masters held in Latin America, bringing together 12 top teams across international leagues.

Later in the year, Valorant Champions 2026 will culminate in Shanghai, China, bringing the world’s top 16 squads together in a global championship that evidences the title’s continued growth and strong international engagement.

CS2 Majors and Global Circuit

Counter-Strike 2 (CS2) remains one of Esports’ most lucrative and stable competitive ecosystems, with a packed calendar of Tier-1 events expected throughout 2026. Historic stops like IEM Katowice, ESL Pro League, BLAST Austin Major and others regularly offer prize pools in the USD 1 million range or higher, drawing elite teams and large online audiences across regions.

CS2 also benefitted from a standout year in 2025, leading the esports prize pool charts with more than USD 32 million awarded across events, underscoring its dominant global presence.

Esports World Cup and Multi-Title Spectacle

The 2025 Esports World Cup in Riyadh demonstrated the scale and commercial potential of multi-title events, boasting a prize pool exceeding USD 70 million, attracting over 3 million live attendees and peaking at 7.5 million concurrent online viewers during finals across major games.

The event’s success has positioned it as a central festival on the Esports calendar, and its anticipated 2026 iteration is widely expected to build on that momentum with wider global participation and increased media visibility.

Dota 2 and CS2: Pillars of Competitive Prize Money

Titles like Dota 2 and CS2 continued to deliver impressive returns for players and stakeholders. In 2025, Dota 2’s seasonal tournaments contributed significant prize pools and maintained consistent competitive interest, even as CS2 eclipsed many traditional benchmarks.

Looking ahead, major Dota events -likely including high-stakes LAN competitions and elite series- are expected to remain core pillars of the esports ecosystem, drawing both professional viewership and community engagement.

Viewership and Fan Engagement Trends

Esports events in 2025 regularly drew millions of viewers across major titles. For instance, League of Legends World Championship peaked with more than 6.7 million concurrent viewers, while Mobile Legends and MPL finals registered over 4 million, reflecting mobile Esports growth.

These viewership trends signal a broader shift where multi-platform streaming, regional interest and cross-title narratives fuel sustained audience engagement, making 2026 a prime year for brands, sponsors and betting operators to align with competitive gaming’s global ecosystem.

The 2026 Esports calendar spans continents, game genres and competitive formats, offering a diverse set of opportunities for fans and commercial partners alike. From MLBB’s mobile roots and Valorant’s tactical spectacles to CS2’s deep tournament cycle and the expansive Esports World Cup, the year ahead promises unparalleled visibility and financial impact. For stakeholders across gaming, media and entertainment, engaging with these blockbuster events can unlock new audiences and deepen connections with the ever-growing Esports community.
