From your experience in CRM and personalization for the gaming industry, what are the most important trends currently transforming iGaming in regulated markets?

After more than a decade working with operators in both mature and emerging regulated markets, at Optimove, we’ve identified three key trends shaping the industry globally. In established markets like the UK and Spain, AI-driven personalization is leading the way. Operators are using predictive models to automate player journeys, trigger the right action at the right time, and optimize engagement across channels, all while staying compliant with strict regulations. We’re also seeing major investment in first-party data strategies; data collected directly from player interactions with the brand. As third-party data becomes less reliable and privacy regulations intensify, operators are prioritizing the data they own to deliver more accurate, compliant, and personalized experiences. A third trend is the growing use of personalization to support responsible gaming. CRM is no longer just about boosting engagement or ROI; it’s about detecting early signs of risky behavior and taking proactive steps to protect players. In emerging markets like Brazil and across Latin America, operators are eager to adopt these best practices from the start. Many are fast-tracking their CRM maturity and turning to real-time, data-driven marketing to drive retention, meet regulatory demands, and differentiate in an increasingly competitive landscape.

What role is artificial intelligence playing in improving player retention and personalization?

AI is quickly becoming the engine behind smarter, more agile, and more responsible marketing in iGaming. It’s no longer a future goal; it’s how leading operators understand their players, connect meaningfully, and protect them in real time. By analyzing player behavior as it happens, AI enables hyper-personalized journeys at every touchpoint. Messages, offers, and interactions no longer rely on assumptions or static segments. They respond instantly to what each player is doing, wants, or needs at scale. In Latin America, many operators are uniquely positioned to adopt this AI-driven approach from day one, bypassing outdated legacy systems. This opens the door to dynamic onboarding flows, real-time bonus optimization, and immediate responses to behavioral changes, all without delays or the need for multiple teams. AI is also revolutionizing responsible gaming. By identifying early signs of risk, it enables personalized interventions that protect players without compromising their experience. One example is the automation of complete player journeys that adapt in real time. Instead of fixed campaigns, operators can now build dynamic flows that adjust message frequency, preferred channels, and tone based on player behavior. This precision boosts engagement and loyalty without manual effort. In short, AI is shifting marketing from pre-set campaigns to continuous, intelligent relationships, and in newly regulated, fast-moving markets, that shift is a game-changer.

How do you see the impact of regulation on the adoption of new technologies in the industry?

Regulation plays a dual role in the adoption of technology within iGaming. On one hand, it sets clear rules and expectations. On the other, it often accelerates innovation by pushing operators to adopt smarter tools that ensure compliance while maintaining competitiveness. This is especially evident in areas like responsible gaming, data privacy, and marketing compliance. In mature markets, regulation has driven the adoption of advanced CRM systems, AI risk detection models, and real-time orchestration tools that ensure the right message reaches the right player at the right moment. In newly regulated markets, regulation acts as a catalyst. Operators are entering a phase where compliance is non-negotiable, and technology is essential, not just to meet legal requirements, but also to meet evolving player expectations. The ability to automate journeys, personalize communications responsibly, and log every interaction is no longer a nice-to-have; it’s the foundation for building trust and lasting relationships. In fact, many Latin American operators are using this regulatory moment to build smarter tech foundations from the start. With no legacy systems holding them back, they can adopt modern AI-powered platforms that combine compliance, efficiency, and exceptional player experience.

You’ve participated in several G&M News’ events. What value do these gatherings bring to industry professionals, and how do they boost the development of the sector?

G&M News‘ events have become key catalysts for connection, learning, and collaboration within Latin America’s iGaming ecosystem. They bring together operators, suppliers, regulators, and experts in the right context to have meaningful conversations about regulation, innovation, and growth. For Optimove, these events go far beyond brand exposure. They’re opportunities to share the knowledge we’ve gained by working with leading operators worldwide and to support the growth of local markets with actionable insights, proven strategies, and real solutions. We especially value how G&M News tailors each agenda to the unique needs of every market. Each country in LatAm has its own regulatory landscape, player behavior, and level of operational maturity. By focusing on what matters most in each context, these events foster impactful discussions and long-term partnerships. In such a fast-evolving and competitive region, gatherings like these are essential to build stronger connections between people, technologies, and ideas.

What are your expectations for the growth and evolution of the Latin American gaming market in the coming years?

Latin America is one of the most promising regions in the global iGaming landscape. As more countries move toward regulation and digital transformation, we expect rapid growth, but also a clear divide between operators who invest in scalable, player-centric strategies and those who don’t. The most successful operators will be those who understand that sustainable growth comes from building strong, long-term relationships with players. This means focusing not just on acquisition, but on retention, loyalty, and lifetime value from day one. We expect more operators to embrace CRM, automation, and AI to deliver personalized, responsible, real-time experiences. Since many markets are starting from scratch, they have a unique opportunity to skip outdated systems and adopt modern strategies from the beginning. This is what we call Positionless Marketing; a future-ready model where marketing professionals break free from silos and operate with speed, independence, and agility. With a mobile-first population, an evolving regulatory environment, and a new generation of ambitious operators, LatAm has all the ingredients to lead the next wave of iGaming innovation.
